K’taka to decide on allowing liquor sales in state today

Bengaluru: The State government will today hold a meeting and discuss whether to relax the restrictions on sale of liquor during lockdown or not.

The high-level meeting on Monday, April 13 will look into the modalities of permitting partial functioning of the liquor shops.

While the government will look at allowing Mysore Sales International Limited (MSIL) and CL-2 licence MRP retail stores to function, the ban on serving alcohol in bars and restaurants will continue.

The matter is coming up discussion as news of suicides and withdrawal symptoms due to non-consumption of alcohol have been hitting the headlines.

Further, several liquor stores have been burgled across the state eversince the lockdown was clamped.
