Bengaluru: The health department in the state is on high-alert after a 24-year-old man from Hyderabad, working in a tech company in Bengaluru tested positive for Corona Virus, on Monday.

The young man had recently travelled to Bengaluru from Dubai and is said to have contracted the infection there.

With him returning to Bengaluru and travelling to Hyderabad, districts such as Raichur and Gulbarga, which border the state of Telangana, have been placed on high alert.

“We have begun tracing and contacting the individuals that the man may have interacted with and have informed them to remain under home quarantine,” stated Health secretary Jawaid Akhtar to TNM.

The techie reported to his office in Bengaluru on February 20 and worked there for around two days.

The individuals who had come in contact with him will have to remain under home isolation for 14 days. They will be admitted to hospital if they develop symptoms like fever, cough, cold or infections.

The techie had travelled from Bengaluru to Hyderabad and there were around 27 others on the bus, who will all be traced soon, said the sources adding that all those who had been in touch with the man and have worked with him have been notified.

It is said that the techie had come in contact with individuals from Hong Kong while working in Dubai.

The authorities have now started screening passengers arriving from Dubai.

The coronavirus outbreak began in early December 2019 in Wuhan city in China.
