Bengaluru: Even though it has been three days since the Congress-Janata Dal (S) state coalition was dissolved, state Bharatiya Janata Party’s enthusiasm to form the government has been dampened for the moment, BJP chief and Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed the state BJP to wait until for the high command’s nod after the Supreme Court give its verdict on the erstwhile state coalition’s rebel MLA cases. Taking note of these developments, Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar has predicted a turmoil in several aspects in the state.
Speaking to media here on Thursday, July 25, he said, “If a new government is not formed in a week from now, the state will have to face the consequences as we have to pass the finance bill and get its approval on the floor of the House. If this process is delayed, then it will become highly impossible to reach the treasury of the government which in turn will affect the sanctioning of salaries to the government employees”
“If this scenario comes into play, it will be for the first time that the state will be going through such a crisis. It will not be a surprise if Presidential Rule is imposed in the state under these circumstances”, he added.
According to the constitutional procedure, if the new government doesn’t come to power by July 31, then the Governor of Karnataka, Vajubhai Vala will be having two options-Passing the finance bill through the union ministry of finance in the Lok Sabha as the monsoon session is on or have it passed by the President of India, Ramnath Kovind.
