Bengaluru: Following a recent judgement of the Supreme Court, Karnataka has decided to fix a specific time for bursting crackers during Diwali.
The state government has issued a notification in this regard and said that fire crackers can be burst only between 8 pm to 10 pm during Diwali.
According to the sources, a decision in this regard was taken after a meeting between the police and senior officials of the state government.
The meet also worked out restrictions on bursting garland crackers. It pressed for usage of low decibel crackers and to make sure that celebrations do not disturb pregnant women and senior citizens.
The government also directed the state pollution control board to monitor the air and noise pollution levels continuously for 14 days at the time of the festival.
