Bengaluru: The State Government has decided to reopen pre-university and degree colleges from Wednesday February 16. College students will have to wear the uniform wherever there is a dress code.

Before making the decision, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai met with Primary and Secondary Education Minister B. C. Nagesh, Higher Education Minister Dr. C. N. Ashwath Narayan, and Home Minister Araga Jnanendra.

Following the hijab controversy, the government declared a three-day closure of high schools and colleges in the State.

Colleges, on the other hand, had their holidays extended for three more days, while high schools reopened on Monday February 14.

Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting Minister Nagesh said that they had reviewed the situation and decided to reopen the PU and degree colleges in accordance with the High Court’s orders. The High Court’s directive applies wherever there is uniform. He stated that this must be followed in accordance with the interim order.

Home Minister Araga Jnanendra informed that parents and students want colleges to reopen and the police will keep in touch with college and school principals, as well as management committee members, to offer all possible support.
