Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president D K Shivakumar on Friday, alleged that the police stations and government offices in many parts of the state are running like the offices of the ruling BJP and that the Congress party workers are being intimidated.

Speaking to reporters at a “Sankalpa” convention here, Shivakumar said that they are making efforts to strengthen the Congress party and that their aim is to not just outperform the BJP in the upcoming taluk and zilla panchayat elections, but also to remove them from power.

“Various police stations and government offices have been turned into BJP offices. Police officers like circle or Sub-Inspectors are threatening our workers with cases if they don’t join the BJP,” he said, according to a report by PTI.

He claimed that several block presidents had informed the party of the same and that they had taken a note of the incidents.

Threatening to stage protests “at those police stations or in those constituencies”, Shivakumar said that they plan and carry out the same. “We will not sit in rooms. We will go out to the streets and agitate. It will be to give strength to our workers and send a message to the authorities,” he said.
