Bengaluru: The High Court of Karnataka has asked the state government to inform about the policy pertaining to issuing of the passes to vehicles during the lockdown and specifically put on record how many passes were given to allow people to attend the wedding of Nikhil, son of Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

On April 21, the court had ask the state government to inform whether social distancing norms were followed during the wedding held at Kumaraswamy’s farm house in Ramanagra district.

A complaint was made by advocate Geetha Misra about breach of social distancing norms during the high-profile wedding of actor-turned-politician Nikhil Kumaraswamy with Revati.

A division bench of Chief Justice Abhay Oka and Justice B V Nagarathna orally said the high court had received several pleas through emails from various persons from within and outside Karnataka on the breach of social distancing norms and grant of vehicle passes for the wedding.

“Is it the policy of the government to grant passes for a wedding during the lockdown. If yes then everyone will apply for passes?”, the bench remarked.

The court has now posted the matter for further hearing on May 5.
