Bengaluru: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses will run as usual and not be part of ‘Aakrosh Divas’ today, called by the opposition parties in the country led by Congress to register their protest against demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes in the country by the Union government.
Rajendra Kumar Kataria, Managing Director, KSRTC said that the corporation hasn’t received any order from the state government by oral or written to participate in the bandh. KSRTC Staff and Workers Federation Chief Secretary Ananth Subbarao said, the association supports Aakrosh Divas but it won’t participate in the protest. The workers and employees of KSRTC will attend their duty as on a normal working day. The association won’t oppose if any association decides to stop KSRTC service at any location on Aakrosh Divas, he clarified.
According to sources, taxi owners, hotels, traders are likely to stop their services in Bengaluru today, while post offices, banks, schools, colleges and other institutions are expected to function as normal.
