Bengaluru: Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Manu Baligar has informed that the bylaws are being amended to extend the term of KSP president and members to 5 years and it will be submitted in the all-member special meeting which will be held at Kota of Udupi district, on March 15.
“The KSP had spent Rs. 42 lakh for last elections. To avoid wasting public money once in 3 years, these amendments are being done. Even the working committee has agreed to this,” Baligar said adding that all-member meetings need not be conducted in Bengaluru. Even the members want to conduct meetings in different districts. So, now this time it is being conducted in Kota. No special invitation has been given. Notice has been sent to the members to attend the meeting at their own expense.
There is only one polling booth in Bengaluru. The issue of opening 28 polling booths in every Assembly constituency and establishing polling booth for minimum 500 voters in the rural areas will be submitted before the meeting. Though people don’t have Parishat ID card, they will be allowed to vote using other ID proofs, he said.
The annual membership will be canceled and the fees of the lifetime membership have been increased from Rs.250 to Rs.500. Now onwards the members of the Parishat may not get ‘Kannada Nudi’ magazine free of cost. In coming days, those who want membership have to pay Rs.500 as nominal fees.
There was an opportunity to nominate one woman from SC category to working committee and it will be extended to two. One person from ST can also be nominated in addition, Manu Baligar added.
