Bangalore: The Karnataka state II PUC board examination 2014 results will be declared today, on Thursday May 8.
The II Pre-University Certificate (PUC) examinations, popularly known as Class 12 exams were conducted between March 12, 2014 and March 27, 2014 in the State.
Nearly 6 lakh candidates appeared for PUC exams, out of which more than two lakh candidates took exam in Commerce stream, about 2.5 lakh candidates in Arts stream and more than 1.7 lakh candidates in Science Stream, as per the reports.
The education minister Kimmane Ratnakar formally announced the results, wherein Dakshina Kannada has topped the state with a pass percentage of 86.04 percent, after which Udupi stood second at 85.57 pass percentage.
Overall, 60.47 percent of the students have passed in the state; the pass percentage in rural areas is 60.47 percent, while in urban areas it is 60.15 percent. Bidar district is at the bottom with 44.95 percent.
There were certain speculations about the board planning to do away with the PUC exams however; the board has also affirmed that the continuity of the exams with large-scale changes in the syllabus in-lines will help the state board students better, when compared to the national boards.
