KRV protests against Central Govt’s anti-Karnataka attitude

Bengaluru: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike held a demonstration against the central government for not responding to the State all party delegation to provide an immediate solution to their drinking water problems in the region with regards to Kalasa Banduri issue in the city.

Kalasa Banduri project, through which taluks like , Gadag, Belagavi and Bagalkot in the Northern Karnataka will receive sufficient water is being opposed by Goa. This has delayed the work undertaken by the Karnataka Governement.

State all party delegation led by CM Siddaramaiah and cabinet ministers were not happy with the meeting held between prime minister Modi as there was no positive response.

An official letter sent to the central government states, “We condemn the attitude of the central government towards Karnataka as they are least bothered to sort out the issue.

The vedike members held a demonstration from Town Hall to Mysore Bank circle protesting against the central government and demanding their need for basic needs which a not being fulfilled.

The dispute over sharing of Mahadayi river waters had been referred to a tribunal headed by Justice J B Panchal, following Goa’s opposition to Karnataka’s efforts to divert 7.56 tmc from Mayadayi to Malaprabha to solve the drinking water crisis in North Karnataka.

“The people of the region want the central and state governments to reach an out-of-the court settlement”, the letter stated.
