Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president Dinesh Gundu Rao on Sunday alleged that BJP national president Amit Shah was in the State for to bring down the democratically elected Congress government.
Refuting Shah’s allegation that the Siddaramaiah government was the most corrupt in the country, Dinesh Gundu Rao asked what moral right Shah had to make such an allegation while sitting next to B.S. Yeddyurappa, who went to jail for corruption during his term as Chief Minister.
Accusing the BJP of propagating lies through its pracharaks and creating communal tension, he released a detailed report on the alleged false claims of the NDA government and the findings after a reality check on issues concerning several government programmes. He urged Mr. Shah to respond to them before he winds up his three-day tour of the State.
Rao also sought to know the Centre’s stand on the Cauvery and Mahadayi issues and the alleged discrimination against Karnataka in releasing drought relief. “While BJP-governed States like Gujarat and Maharashtra were given higher allocation, Karnataka received a paltry Rs. 1,500 crore. The compensation could dip further with the new rules for drought relief put in place,” he said, challenging the Centre to waive farm loans taken from nationalised banks.
