Bengaluru: With the aim of bringing in close co-ordination between the Party and its government, the Congress is likely to revamp the KPCC Co-ordination Committee headed by AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh.
The need to revamp the committee was specifically felt when two members of the committee-D K Shivakumar and G Parameshwar went on to hold two powerful portfolios in the state government.
The Committee was formed in 2014, when some Congress ‘loyalists’ complained that the CM was taking all important policy decisions, unilaterally. The Committee, in a way was to act as a watch dog of the government, but soon, four out of the seven-member committee became part of the ruling government, creating a lopsided affect.
Further, the Committee remained dormant over the last one year, without holding even a single meeting after January 2015.
However, as per party sources, the revamp will happen only for the AICC finds the right candidate to lead the KPCC.
G Parameshwar’s tenure as party chief ended in December 2015, but he has been asked by the party High Command to continue till a name is finalised.
Minister for Power DK Shivakumar and IT, BT Minister S R Patil are trying their level best to bag the position.
Several questions pertaining to the party and its organisational structure are expected to be answred during the KPCC Executive Committee meet to be held in Bengaluru on April 16.
