Bengaluru: On Thursday last, after the CBI arresed Koushik Kounr in the city for uploading videos of a woman being gang-raped that went viral on the Internet, the CBI found 470 porn videos found with the accused at his upscale apartment in Mahadevapura. Koushik, is a class 12 dropout, and worked as a cab driver in the city, but lived in a posh apartment with a monthly rent of Rs. 40,000.
A careful analysis of these videos shows that some them are original and not uploaded on the net. “We suspect his involvement in the making of some of these videos,” a CBI source said. The stealth cameras found in his possession has strengthened this suspicion, an official said.
Now they feel that he may be the tip of what could be an organised porn ring in the city and they have now taken him to New Delhi, to find out if he had any associates. They believe that Koushik could not produce such videos alone and there must be a larger nexus operating in the city. Sleuths said that as most of the porn videos were recordings by stealth cameras, they cannot rule out the possibility of extortion and blackmail of those caught on tape. An analysis of the call detail records (CDR) is expected to reveal more information on his contacts.
The officials will be taking Koushik to Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh to probe into the source of the anonymous video of a woman being gang-raped. The video had first surfaced in Sitapur district. Two youths have already been arrested from Odisha in connection with the case. The CBI is also probing to see if these youths were acquainted with Koushik.
