Kota Srinivas Poojary to be leader of Opposition

Bengaluru: The BJP has decided to appoint former minister Kota Srinivas Poojary as the leader of the opposition in the Legislative Council.

The decision was arrived at after due deliberations on the regional representation and caste factors during the BJP core committee meeting held on Friday, June 29. Speaking to reporters after the meet, BJP general secretary Aravind Limbavali informed that the party has decided to appoint Poojary as the leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council and MLC Mahantesh Kavatagimath as the chief whip in the Council.

A Billava community leader, Poojary will replace K S Eshwarappa as the leader of the Opposition while Mahantesh would replace former MLC Ganesh Karnik.
