Kolar: Marketed as a purpose built motorcycle, Royal Enfield’s Himalayan motorcycle has let down a bike lover from Kolar who has pulled up the company with the Consumer Court with a complaint as he found that the popular bike manufacturer’s ‘Himalayan’ motorcycle was unreliable.

Kolar resident, M Puneeth, an engineer by profession received his brand new Himalayan from Jagadamba Automobiles on June 1, 2016. On day 1 itself, Puneeth witnessed several manufacturing problems such as petrol leakage from tank and carburettor, engine oil leakage, hard gear shifts, engine idling issue etc and took it to the service station to rectify the issue.

He along with five others even tried contacting Sidharatha Lal, CEO and MD of Royal Enfield. However after all their efforts to resolve the issue went in vain Puneeth approached the Consumer Court listing more than 40 quality flaws and engineering defects.

After listening to the owner and his distress, the consumer court took decision in the favour of the owner and has demanded the company to reply on the same.

An answer from the company is awaited and the court has directed Royal Enfield to reply soon on this issue faced by a Royal Enfield Himalayan owner.
