Bengaluru: Here is a good news for kin of legislators who had died before December 1978.

The family members of legislators, who had died before December 1978, will now be entitled to pension benefits with the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday passing an amendment bill without any debate.

As per the Karnataka Legislature Salaries, Pensions and Allowances (Second Amendment) Bill 2015, the kin of legislators who had died before December 26, 1978, will be entitled to the pension benefit, which will be operative from February 22, 2014. The government will incur an additional expenditure of Rs 2.56 crore annually from the proposed measure.
Even as the opposition created a ruckus in the house ober CM’s watch issue, the bill piloted by Law Minister T B Jayachandra was tabled in the Legislative Assembly and was passed without any debate.
