Bengaluru: Despite being labled as illegal by the education department, admissions to many private schools have already begun for the next academic year.
Now the Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar has said that a decision on the action against such schools would be made by March. This would also apply to the medium of instruction in schools.
The department has identified 1,266 schools in Bengaluru South and North. On the delay in initiating action against such schools, he said, “When we served a notice on an unauthorized school recently, the school approached the court and got a stay. So, we need to initiate suitable action which needs deliberation,” he said.
However, Parvati, a parent who is looking to admit her child to class one, said the government should clarify the status of unauthorized and illegal schools at the earliest in order to avoid trouble to parents.
In a twist to the case sources said most of the schools that had been listed as illegal and unauthorized had applied for permissions for the next academic year and were likely to get permission and become legal.
