Bangalore: The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has formed a two-member watchdog committee, comprising retired police officers B K Shivaram and BB Ashok Kumar, to prevent piracy of Kannada films in the state.

Shivaram and Ashok Kumar will hold a meeting with film producers, artistes, directors, music company owners and retired police officials in the next 15 days to draw a plan of action, KFCC president HD Gangaraju told STOI on Saturday.

“The Goonda Act against the piracy is already in force in the state. But the committee will discuss with the industry on how to go about implementing it. Once a culprit is arrested under the Act, he will not get bail. We also plan to have watchdog committees at the district level,” said Gangaraju.
