Karnataka organisations protest at Tamil Nadu border

Bengaluru: The bandh call given by Karnataka protesting the Cauvery water order was incident free at the inter-State border, but for a few protests by pro-Kannada organizations at the Attibele post on Friday, September 9.

The State police of either side had banned the movement of vehicles across the border. While Karnataka police secured the Attibele border, Tamil Nadu secured the Jujuvadi checkpost.

Dramatic protests were witnessed as a few several Kannada activists reached Attibele and raised slogans. Kannada Jagruti Vedike activists burnt an effigy while another organization performed the last rites

There have been heavy protests in Karnataka which has resulted in the cancellation of several buses, both private and State transport that ply daily between Tamil Nadu and Bengaluru. Over 910 buses have stayed off the road for the last four days.
