Karnataka lockdown updates: Govt issues fresh guidelines

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa announced a 14-day ‘curfew’ in the state starting the night of April 27 to control the surge in Covid-19 cases on Monday, April 26.

Following this, the government issued fresh guidelines that will be enforced during the upcoming two weeks.

The fresh guidelines will come in force from 9 pm on April 27 and will continue to be in force till 6 am on May 12.

The fresh guidelines state that the scheduled flights, trains will continue to operate. Passengers can use flight/train tickets as passes to reach the train station or the airport. Schools, colleges, coaching or educational institutions will remain closed. Examinations already scheduled are permitted with strict adherence to coronavirus regulations.

The Guidelines allowed the hotels, restaurants, eateries to offer takeaway services. Cinema hall, malls, gyms, sports complexes, clubs, theatres bars to remain closed. Social, political, sports, academic, cultural, religious functions are banned. Religious places of worship to be closed for the public. Only priests allowed inside places of worship to perform religious rituals.

According to the fresh guidelines, the offices of the state government and their autonomous bodies, corporations, etc. shall be allowed to function. Health services, including AYUSH and veterinary hospitals to remain functional. There will not be any restrictions on the movement of goods and cargo but these activities are allowed only outside the containment zone.

All agricultural and allied activities permitted outside containment zones. Allied activities include fisheries, poultry, meat, and dairy, etc.

Inter-state and intra-state movement of passenger vehicles permitted only in case of emergencies. Public or private buses or passenger vehicles are not allowed to operate.

Marriages can be organized with a maximum of 50 people while adhering to strict Covid protocol. The cremation and funerals will be allowed with a maximum of five people.

To ensure strict enforcement of the measures, the government has said legal action will be taken against those who don’t follow the guidelines.
