
Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa received the Covaxin vaccine at the Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru on Friday.
Dr. K Sudhakar, the minister of health and family welfare who also handles the medical education department, accompanied the chief minister to the Victoria Hospital and received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The 78-year-old chief minister, who recently returned from Chikkaballapur district, where he and state governor Vajubhai Vala took part in the Amrut Mahotsav to commemorate India’s 75th anniversary of independence.
Dr. Sudhakar, speaking to reporters after receiving the vaccine, urged all senior citizens and other people who are willing to receive the vaccine to register and get vaccinated as soon as possible.
Dr. Sudhakar, who is also a medical doctor, identified himself as a frontline health worker when he received the vaccine.
Under medical supervision, the COVID19 vaccine is currently being provided to senior citizens aged 60 and up, as well as those aged 45 and up with comorbidities.
