
Bengaluru: In order to avoid any untoward incidents and to maintain the law and order of ‘Silicon City’ during the ‘Karnataka Bundh’ on Thursday, February 13, the Bengaluru Police kept state president of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Praveen Shetty under house arrest. Another 180 people having criminal records have been taken into custody.
According to the reports, although Praveen Shetty has not extended his support for the protest and bundh, based on the orders of the higher officials, the police have kept him under house arrest at his R T Nagar residence.
On the other hand, on Wednesday, February 12 midnight the police officials had conducted a special patrolling and took into custody those people who have been involved in protests like Cauvery water dispute protest, rowdy sheeters having various criminal cases in different police stations.
Addressing the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Shashikumar said that around 180 people were taken into custody from various police station limits by the Bengaluru Police (North Division).
As per the sources, state president of Shramajeevi Karmika Vedike Sampath Kumar and state president of Suvarna Karnataka Rakshana Sene Raghavendra Gowda, who had allegedly brought in a massive number of protesters too were detained by the police.
Meanwhile, the reports suggest that the police have directed Praveen Shetty not to come out of his house, till further orders from the police department.
