Bengaluru: Food and Civil Supplies Minister K.H. Muniyappa has said that the Annabhagya scheme to transfer money to the accounts of beneficiaries in lack of excess rice will be implemented from Monday.
Accordingly, the money will be credited to the accounts of ‘Annabhagya’ beneficiaries from today. Instead of 5 kg of rice, money will be credited to the beneficiary’s account today. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will launch the project at 5 pm at a function to be held at the banquet hall of Vidhana Soudha.
The government will pay Rs 170 each instead of 5 kg of rice.According to the minister, there are 1.29 crore BPL card families comprising four members in the state and there are a total of 41 crore beneficiaries. Giving 10 kg of rice under the Annabhagya scheme was one of the five guarantees of the Congress government.
