Bengaluru: The son of Union minister DV Sadananda Gowda, Karthik Gowda wants the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) to stop the shooting of Kannada movie ‘Akshathe’, which he claims defames him and his family.

In a two-page letter to the KFCC, dated April 25, 2015, Karthik said media reports on Akshathe imply that the movie is based on him. “The reports give an impression that the storyline is based on a love story between a hero who is named after me and Mythriya… The movie is being made with a conspiracy to bring disrepute to me and my family,” the letter said.
“I and my family haven’t consented to the production of this movie. So, I request you to please intervene and take suitable action,” Karthik said in the letter.
Mythriya, the female lead in the movie however, denied Akshathe is based on Karthik’s family. “The story was finalized eight months ago. It’s not about his family or him. It’s about an IAS officer. There are romantic scenes in the movie. We are not making the film based on any real-life incident related to anyone.” Sources quoted her as saying, “the story (of the film) was finalized eight months ago. It’s not about his (Karthik Gowda’s) family or him
Mythriya Gowda, had recently alleged that Karthik had married her in secret and later deserted her. Complaints and counter-complaints are under investigation and legal proceedings are on too.
Reports quote Thomas D’Souza, KFCC President as saying, ” We’ve told the director and producer not to base their story on any family as it wouldn’t give a good impression. We have told them that neither Karthik nor his family should figure in the movie”.
