Bengaluru: Finally, Kannada film producers have agreed to support the ban on film exhibition digital service providing companies CUBE and UFO, from March 9, said Karnataka Chalanachitra Vanijya Mandali President Sa.Ra.Govindu.

Addressing a press conference with all 8 film producers, who wanted to release their movies on March 9, Govindu said, “I have explained the situation to them and requested for their support. They are all committed to the decision of the Vanijya Mandali and agreed to postpone the release. This ban would continue till the companies provide services at our rate”.

“Same companies charge only Rs.2500 per week for Hindi movies. For English movies, they provide free service, but for Kannada movies, they charge Rs.12,000 per theatre. It’s a kind of oppression in the monopoly. When we stop giving content to them, other companies also come forward to provide digital service. We would get a clear picture within 15 days,” said Vice President N.M Suresh.

Meanwhile, he said that those who want to release their movies only in the multiplex can release it. In multiplexes, they have their own projectors and servers. There is no need for UFO and CUBE services. There are 60 such theatres.

Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Pondicherry, and Kerala film industries have already stopped the release of new movies from March 2.
