Kannada film director’s car burgled: Rs 3 lakh stolen

Bengaluru: S Narayan, Kannada film director and actor became a victim of thieves when a brief case containing Rs three lakh in cash and a few documents was stolen from his car near the Maruthi Mandira in Vijayanagar Main Road, on Wednesday.
According to police, Narayan had come to the Federal Bank in Vijayanagar in his car driven by his driver Ravishankar. They reached the bank at around 11.30 am and Narayan left a briefcase containing a few documents and Rs 3 lakh in cash in the front seat of the car and asked the driver to guard it.

Apparently, while Narayan was inside the bank, the driver got down from the car and stood outside leaving the windows of the car open. In a flash, an unidentified person made away with the briefcase, and the driver didnt even know that a theft had taken place, until Narayan returned and asked for it. They searched for it desperately, but then realized it was stolen and he then lodged a complaint with the Vijayanagar police station. The police have obtained the CCTV footage to gather more clues. The driver of the car is also being questioned.

Another similar incident
In another incident, an unidentified person made away with Rs 3 lakh in cash from the utility box of a two-wheeler at FTI Circle near RMC Yard.

According to police, around 1 pm, Lingaraju, a resident of Nelagadaranahalli and an engineer in a private company, withdrew Rs 3 lakh from the Bank of India in Rajagopalanagar. He kept the cash in the utility box of his bike and was on the way to deposit it at the Sirsi Co-operative Bank in Subramanya Nagar. As he neared the FTI Circle, an unidentified person on a bike told Lingaraju that his shirt had become dirty and asked him to clean it. Lingaraju halted his bike near a hotel to clean his shirt. The unidentified person also helped him in cleaning the shirt.

As Lingaraju was busy cleaning the shirt, the unidentified person broke open the utility box and made away with the cash. The incident came to light when Lingaraju found the box open.  

He informed the police and a case was registered at the RMC Yard police station.
