Bengaluru: Kannada film actor and Congress party worker Arjun Dev has filed a complaint with the Byatarayanapura police against a rowdy, whom he claims has taken a contract to kill him. He has sought protection from the police.

Arjun Dev is the president of the Congress party unit in Deepanjali Nagar.

In his complaint filed last Friday, Arjun Dev said that he was informed about the contract by a well-wisher. He told the police that a habitual offender, Kashif from Islampura, had done a recce of his house. “My friends alerted me, saying Khasif has enquired about me,’’ he told the police.

The police had initially taken up a non cognizable report (NCR) but Arjun Dev approached the court, which issued directions to the police to book the case under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Based on the court’s direction, the police have filed a first information report (FIR).
