Bengaluru: Several Kannada activists were detained by Yelahanka police on Wednesday morning after they tried to hoist Kannada flag on the Yelahanka flyover.
It can be recalled that a few Kannada organisations are at loggerheads with the state government over the issue of naming of this flyover.
The state government and the BBMP want the flyover to be named after freedom fighter and RSS ideologue Veer Sarvarkar.
However, opposition parties and a section of Kannada organisations have objected to the same. Following the protest, the naming ceremony of the flyover was postponed recently.
A few Hindu activists have already painted the name of Veer Savarkar on the flyover in protest against the delay in the naming ceremony of the flyover.
Kannada activists are gathering infront of the Yelahanka station seeking permission. Additional police forces have been rushed to the spot.
