Bengaluru: The Banaswadi police on Friday arrested a private firm employee, James, in connection with the molestation of a woman in Kammanahalli on January 1. With this, the number of accused arrested in this case has gone up to five. The four others were nabbed on Thursday.
The police nabbed James from his relative’s house where he was hiding to evade arrest. According to the police, he, along with his friend Pappu, who is absconding, went into hiding soon after the incident. Meanwhile, Ayyappa, Lenin, Sudesh and Chinnu were produced in court and taken into police custody for five days.
According to reliable source, the woman identified her attackers, but refused to record her statement or lodge a complaint. It is believed that police have been trying to convince her to help them to take a strict action against the culprits.
