Bengaluru: Kaapiwithcop, a new online initiative by the Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy, in collaboration with the city police, will enable citizens to have candid conversations and know more about their police.
The initiative aims to bridge the gap with senior police officers. As a pilot project, four senior officials Director of Forensic Science Laboratory Dr Rohini Katoch Sepat, followed by Anti-Corruption Bureau Superintendent of Police Labhu Ram, Additional Commissioner of Police (East) and nodal officer of Community policing Harishekaran and DCP East Satheesh Kumar, will have a candid talk with the public.
A spokesperson from Janaagraha, said, “With such initiatives, we aim to lessen the gap between namma cops and citizens. In a candid conversation with police officers, the citizens got to know more about them. They get to ask the officers questions like why they opted for this line of service, their inspirations; topical issues in the community etc. In turn, we hope the police can get better cooperation from the public. We believe there is a lot that can be achieved, if the police and public work in collaboration.”
It may be recalled that, Janaagraha, in association with the Bengaluru City police had come up with an initiative called Community Policing in 2013, with an aim to build a rapport between the police and the public.
