
Bengaluru: On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai stated on Friday June 25 that steps had been taken to destroy Rs. 50 crore worth of drugs seized last year on Saturday June 26.
Speaking to the media persons, Bommai said that, “The drugs will be destroyed in accordance with the court’s order. Last year, a total of 4,666 cases were filed, with 5,291 people being arrested. Opium, charas, LSD, Ganja, brown sugar, heroin, cocaine, and other substances have also been seized.”
All of the cases have been filed under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychiatric Substances Act, and the arrested individuals will not be granted bail easily,” he stressed.
