
Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has officially issued an order to provide scholarships children of farmers in Karnataka. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had previously declared a decision in this regard.
As per the order, children of agriculturists studying in PUC and degree courses will be eligible for the annual scholarship. The government is giving at an estimated cost of Rs. 1,000 crores. As a result, students whose parents own agricultural land or work in the farming sector will be eligible for the scholarship.
According to the decision, the students will be eligible for only one scholarship and any other cash gift will not be considered a “scholarship.”
The amount will be credited to the students’ accounts on a yearly basis by the government. The amount declared is is Rs. 2,500 for boys and Rs. 3,000 for girls studying PUC/ ITI courses; Rs. 5,000 for boys and Rs. 5,500 for girls studying degree courses other than professional courses; Rs. 7,500 for boys and Rs. 8,000 for girls studying LLB/ paramedical and B Pharm courses; and Rs. 10,000 for boys and Rs. 11,000 for girls studying MBBS and Engineering courses.
