Bengaluru: The first cases of back fungus was reported in the state among children. The infected were a 14-year-old girl from Ballari and a 11-year-old body from Chitradurga district.

Both the children have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and the infection is found to have spread to their eyes and brains.

They have been brought to Bengaluru and are being treated at NIMHANS and Bowring Hospital.
