Bengaluru: Former high court judge Justice P Vishwanath Shetty, will be sworn in as Karnataka Lokayukta today. The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for 5 pm in the day.

Meanwhile Justice Shetty while speaking to reporters after his appointment to the post has assured that he will restore the confidence of people in the anti-graft institution which was mired in an alleged bribery scandal involving Y Bhaskar Rao and his son.

Governor Vajubhai Vala on Thursday accorded his assent to the appointment of Justice P Vishwanath Shetty after the government replied to clarifications sought by him.

The post of Karnataka Lokayukta has been vacant for more than a year now following the resignation of Y Bhaskar Rao in December 2015.
