Jewellery shop burglary: Police nab interstate gang, recover valuables

Bengaluru: Bommanahalli Police under Bengaluru South East division solved a month-old jewellery shop burglary case that shook the city, by nabbing the prime accused. They recovered Rs 70 Lakh worth jewellery from the interstate burglary gang members and have widened their net to trap the rest involved.

Pradeeep Dilip Mole (27), resident of Juna-Budavarpet in Kolhapur of Mahrashtra, Praful Chandrakanth Shinde, resident of Takali road under Pandarpur police station limits of Sangli district in Maharashtra and Gaurang Mandal (37), resident of Begumgunj village of Jharkhand were nabbed by the police.

In the burglary that took place in Hongasandra limits on Begur main road, the accused had broken into Pavan Jewellers and Bankers shop and decamped with the booty on the night of June 29. They had taken a house adjacent to the jewellery shop and had carefully planned the burglary over few days before eventually breaking into the shop by digging open the wall on the night of June 29. They later used gas cutters to break open the lockers, drawers and storage shelves before decamping with all the valuables valued over Rs 70 Lakh.

Praful Kumar Shinde planned the burglary to clear his debts which he had taken towards buying an apartment in Mumbai. An auto driver by profession, he came along with Pradeep Kumat Mole and Mansoor Sheikh, a resident of Malda in West Bengal to carry out the burglary.

The gang meticulously planned the burglary and succeeded in their attempt. They went back to their native places with ill-gotten wealth which they shared among themselves. Prime accused Dilip Kumar Mole had hidden the stolen jewellery in a cattle shed for 3 days before sharing the booty equally among his accomplices.
Gaurang Mandal, a specialist gas cutter running his own business in Jharkhand had brought in sophisticated machinery and implements to carry out the burglary in Bengaluru city.

Bommanahalli police launched a massive manhunt to trace the burglars and used all the valuable information including CCTV footages to trap the accused after the incident shook the city and its residents. The police teams visited parts of Maharashtra and Jharkhand in search of the accused.

Finally, they succeeded in nabbing the prime accused in the case and managed to recover 2 kilos of gold valued at Rs 70 Lakh and silver ornaments weighing 20 kilos.

They are now on the lookout for the rest of the accused in the burglary.

City police commissioner, additional police commissioner (East division) and senior officials lauded the efforts of Bommanahalli police in nabbing the accused and solving the month-old burglary case. Police were under some stress after the burglary incident shook the city residents for the manner in which it as executed.
