Bengaluru: A lot of statements have been issued by the BJP leaders attacking Congress leader DK Shivakumar for taking up the project of installing a statue of Jesus Christ in his constituency.

The 114 feet tall statue will be installed in Kanakapura constituency and DKShi has flagged off the work on Christmas day.

However,  it is now learnt that Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has asked his cabinet colleagues and BJP leaders to stay away from criticising DKShi in this regard.

It is said that CM has told his MLAs and leaders to not make any statements in this regard as it may cause trouble to the BJP and benefit DKShi and the Congress.

He has also said that if they criticize DK Shivakumar, it will look like the BJP is against one religion.

It may be recalled that BJP leaders like Ananth Kumar Hegde and KS Eshwarappa took on DKShi and said that he was doing all this to please Sonia Gandhi.
