Bengaluru: JDS announced Ammajamma, wife of late MLA Satyanarayana as the party candidate for Sira by electionthat is necessitated due to the death of MLA Satyanarayana.

A decision in this regard was taken at the party leaders’ meeting chaired by party national president HD Deve Gowda.

However, minutes after she was announced as the party candidate, Ammajamma tested positive for Covid 19. She underwent tests on Monday and results came on Tuesday.

As she has mild symptoms, she was rushed to a local hospital. JDS is trying to use the sympathy wave to its advantage where Congress and BJP are posing a tough fight. Former minister TB Jayachandra is Congress candidate while BJP is yet to announce its candidate.
