Bengaluru: The controversy over the caste census report has led to the reappointment of Jayaprakash Hegde as the Chairman of the Backward Classes Commission. He has been reappointed for a period of two months, until January 31, 2024.
The decision was issued by the state government on Friday. Due to the unavailability of an opportunity for extension, the current chairman was reappointed.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had verbally suggested the reappointment of Jayaprakash Hegde in the leadership of the Backward Classes Commission. However, no official order was issued by the government. The decision has now been made during a meeting of the Secretariat chaired by Secretary CM Siddaramaiah.
