Bengaluru: The residents of Jayamahal are set to face off with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) after the civic body called for public objections to fell 112 trees on Jayamahal Road.
The residents of Jayamahal have decided to form a human chain on Saturday to protest against the order, and have initiated a door-to-door effort, imploring residents to sign a petition to be presented to the BBMP.
According to Srinivas Alavilli of Citizens for Bengaluru, the residents, in addition to the petition, have decided to form a human chain on Saturday to prevent the government’s efforts to cut down the trees.
A member of the Resident’s Welfare Association (RWA) of Jayamahal Road said, “We hope that the petition and the human chain will effect a change in mindset. We will not stand idly by while the authorities chop down the trees in our neighbourhood.”
