Bengaluru: Actor Nikhil Kumaraswamy will be the JDS candidate from Mandya Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. His name was announced by CM HD Kumaraswamy in Shivamogga.

“If Nikhil contests, it will be from Mandya only. He will not run away fearing a fight,” he said.

A few hours later Nikhil addressed a packed press meet at Mandya and announced that he will be contesting polls from the very same constituency.

“I will be the party candidate for Mandya,” he said.

“I have respect for Sumalata Ambareesh Akka. Abhi Ambareesh is like my brother, but all these will not stop me from contesting,” he said announcing that he will rent a house in the city and will be a permanent resident here.
Later, he attended a music orchestra programme where he sang and danced for various numbers.
