Bengaluru: Throwing garbage in a public place is an uncivilized practice. Following the High Court’s warning on the city’s cleanliness, the BBMP has started night patrolling across the city to identify persons throwing garbage in public places. Contrary to the common assumptions that the illiterate may be causing nuisance, the BBMP was shocked when it caught highly educated individuals throwing garbage in the city.

On Wednesday, while a BBMP team led by health inspector Mahesh was patrolling the city, they first found a lady surgeon of a prestigious hospital throwing garbage in a public place. She was fined Rs 2,000. In the next few minutes, a senior advocate was found throwing garbage. When the BBMP officers asked her to pay the fine she threatened to send them to prison claiming that she is an advocate, but the BBMP authorities didn’t care. Later, it was the turn of a techie working at an MNC.

“In the last one week, the BBMP collected Rs 4 lakh from 2,900 persons who were found throwing garbage in public places. This drive will continue,” said authorities.
