Bengaluru: Madiwala police on Monday arrested one person accused in the techie rape case. The police have identified the accused as Murali from Maruthinagar in Bengaluru.
According to the police, Murali hails from Sigondahalli in Kolar district and has been residing in Bengaluru for the last two years. It may be recalled a woman techie from Tamil Nadu, was raped at a knife point at 2.30 am on August 25 at a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Parappana Agrahara Police Station limits. The PG was situated at Venkatadri Layout near Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. According to the police, the woman was alone when the incident took place. The accused escaped from the spot after committing the crime.
The police, after registering the case based on the complaint from the victim, formed four special teams to nab the accused. The police teams have interrogated around 200 suspects from various areas in Bengaluru but realized the crime was committed by an outsider. Finally the police zeroed in on Murali who confessed to his crime during the interrogation. The police said the accused has been involving in a few theft cases during the last two years and a case was registered against him at Mahadevapura Police Station in 2014.
