International yoga day: Yoga performances restricted to within homes across the state

Bengaluru: Due to the COVID 19 scare, this year’s International Yoga Day celebration was a low key affair across the state.

All these years starting from June 2014, the yoga day was celebrated with public events. But this year Ayush ministry restricted the celebrations to homes due to the Covid19 pandemic. Yoga at home, Yoga with family was the theme of this year’s celebration.

In Karnataka, yoga day was a dull affair. No public events were held. CM BS Yediyurappa tweeted Yoga day wishes.

BJP state unit president Nalin Kumar Kateel participated in Yoga day celebrations at BJP state unit office in Malleshwaram. Speaking on the occasion, he stated that yoga is nothing but seeing god ourselves.

In Yoga city, Mysuru, only a handful of people were allowed to perform yoga in front of the palace. Others were restricted to their homes and terraces.
