Bengaluru: The State unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA) will soon come out with a health manifesto for political parties to follow in the forthcoming Assembly elections. The association, working on creating a “health vision” for the State, says it will support the party that promises to implement the manifesto.
IMA State president H.N. Ravindra told reporters on Saturday that the health fraternity was going through a critical phase with no hope of help either from the Centre or the State. “If the BJP government is determined to bring in the National Medical Commission Bill, the Congress government in Karnataka has adopted the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act. We are disillusioned with all the major parties and our support will be for the party that will implement our manifesto,” Dr. Ravindra said. He added that the IMA would support all doctors who are contesting, irrespective of their party.
The health manifesto will be released at the IMA’s Working Committee and State Council meeting, scheduled to be held in Raichur on April 8. “After that, we will meet the presidents of all parties and submit our manifesto,” he said.
