Bengaluru: A section of Independents and small party MLAs who were flown away to Mumbai by the ruling Congress to prevent poaching by the opposition BJP and JD(S) ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls on June 11, might be brought back in a couple of days after media hyped the issue.

According to sources, the top brass of the party has directed Siddaramaiah to call off his much talked about ‘Operation Airlift’ to prevent further embarrassment to the party.

“Mr Siddaramaiah had worked relentlessly to get the top brass to field a third candidate. Party seniors now feel they should not have given the nod for this as the CM has failed to execute his plan properly.”

Sources also said that, the Chief Minister has instructed S T Somashekhar, Muniratna Niadu and Byrathy Basavaraju who are Mumbai to call off ‘Operation Airlift’.
