Independent inquiry into CID SP bribery case

Bengaluru: An independent inquiry is likely to be ordered by the Home Department into the allegations of bribery against superintendent of police M?L?Madhura Veena and her subordinates from Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

According to a complaint to DGP?(CID)?H?C?Kishore Chandra, filed by hotel Orchid Ramada, the officers barged into the hotel on March 3 without proper documents and conducted the raid on charges of prostitution. They demanded Rs 5 lakh, but finally accepted Rs 2 lakh and left the place. The DGP?(CID) has submitted an inquiry report to the DG&IGP?Om Prakash about Veena and 11 other police officials who include two DySP-rank officers.

H?C?Kishore Chandra directed DIG?(CID)?Sonia Narang to conduct an inquiry and submit a report. Narang conducted the inquiry based on available evidences and submitted a report to Kishore Chandra who forwarded the same to DG and IGP for further action.

DG&IGP?Om Prakash said that the inquiry report mentioned Veena and 11 of her subordinate staff. He also said that disciplinary action would be decided after considering the nature of offence, recommendations by the CID higher-ups and evidences available.
