IMA scam main accused Mansoor Khan arrested in New Delhi

Bengaluru: Founder and Managing Director of the IMA Group and main accused in the IMA scam, Mohammed Mansoor Khan was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials in New Delhi on Friday, July 19.

Sources in the SIT have confirmed the arrest.

Khan is said to have arrived at the New Delhi airport in the wee hours of Friday. He was soon taken into custody by the SIT. Officials of the Enforcement Directorate were also present when the arrest was made.

On the midnight of Thursday, IPS officer, SIT chief Ravikanthe Gowda informed that a team of SIT officials had located IMA founder-owner Mohammed Mansoor Khan in Dubai through their sources. “The SIT persuaded him to come back to India and surrender himself before the law. Accordingly, the accused left Dubai and arrived in New Delhi. SIT officers went to Delhi to secure and arrest him,” he said.

According to sources, an alert has been sounded at all the three airports in Bengaluru – the Kempegowda International Airport, Jakkur and HAL regarding Mansoor’s arrival as there are possibilities of him being brought at any of these airports on July 19 by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and ED officials. 

It can be recalled that Khan faces the charges of cheating around 51,000 investors across South India to the tune of Rs, 3,000 crores in the name of halal investment.
