Bengaluru: The residents Kaggalipura on Kanakapura Main road wore a head cover and formed a human chain as a mark of protest against dumping of waste in their area and burning it.
One of the residents, Tanisha Chouhan alleged that Kaggalipura Gram Panchayat staff dumped around 20 to 30 lorry loads of waste in a vacant land here and set it ablaze. We are complaining about the issue to the panchayat officials from past two years, but all went in vain, she said.
Waste is being dumped from Art of Living Centre to Brigade Meadows Apartment. Few lit fire to the waste. So, around 3,000 people are facing problems here. “While forming the human chain itself, two lorries came to dump the waste, but after learning about what was going on the lorries left the spot,” a resident said.
Chouhan said that panchayat officials have assured that separate shed will be constructed to dump waste. CCTV cameras will be installed at waste dumping place. Action will be taken against those who dump waste illegally. Meanwhile, residents upload day-to-day developments on the ‘Cry Loud’ FB account.
