Bengaluru: In a move that is expected to help thousands of students who are studying in the government Pre University Colleges, this year the II PUC classes will start on May 6 instead of June 1.

The idea is to ensure that the II PUC students get enough classes to prepare themselves.

Speaking to the reporters, principal secretary, primary and secondary education SR Umashankar informed that Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has approved the proposal.

“The private colleges don’t have summer vacation for their II PUC students. The idea is to make sure students score good marks in the final examination to get seats in good colleges. In Government college, only economically backward students study. We need to take care of their future. So, this decision has been taken,” he said.

“In the North Karnataka and Hyderabad region where the temperature will be high, class timings will be fixed according to the convenience of students and the teachers,” he assured.
